"He, who would know the Arrow, must as an irrefutable rule, have openly and without thought of reward, shown obvious love of Alma Mater." - The Founding Nine

The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida and Iron Arrow Honor Society have issued a Joint Statement regarding the use of symbols and practices given to Iron Arrow at its founding by the Miccosukee (then the Everglades Seminoles). Click here to read the statement.

IA Fall 2019 Tribal Portrait

Iron Arrow Honor Society, founded in 1926 in conjunction with the University's opening, is the Highest Honor Attained at the University of Miami. Based on Seminole Indian tradition, Iron Arrow recognizes those individuals in the University of Miami community who exemplify the five qualities of Iron Arrow:

Love of Alma Mater, Character, Leadership, Scholarship, and Humility.

The members of Iron Arrow assemble twice a year to select those to be tapped for membership into the Tribe.

We have just completed our Spring 2020 Tappings. The next ceremonial tappings will be during the Fall 2020 semester. Please join us in congratulating our Spring 2020 Tappees!

The officers look forward to seeing members throughout the year and invite them to visit our beautiful campus when in Miami, and encourage all members to join us at our events - check the calendar here.
